Special Enrollment Periods

Life changes can open a window outside the usual dates. These are the ones we see most in Central Indiana.

  • Losing employer coverage

Eight months to enroll in Part B after employment or group coverage ends, and 63 days for Part D.

  • Moving

A move out of your plan's service area, or to a new area with different plan options, opens a two-month window.

  • Medicaid or Extra Help

Dual-eligible members and Extra Help recipients can change certain plans once per month.

  • 5-star plan in your area

Switch into a plan rated 5 stars once between December 8 and November 30.

  • Nursing home or care facility

Moving into, living in, or leaving a skilled nursing or long-term care facility.

  • Plan or carrier changes

Your plan leaves Medicare, loses its contract, or a FEMA-declared emergency affects your enrollment.
